A chipped, cracked, or stained tooth can have a significant impact on the appearance of your smile, and your ability to smile with confidence. Fortunately, porcelain veneers can help you achieve a smile you are proud to show off. These thin porcelain shells cover the front surface of teeth and conceal minor blemishes beneath. At Navid Family Dental & Associates in Peabody, MA, we offer traditional and minimal-prep veneers to meet the various needs of our patients, and we can design a treatment plan entirely tailored to meet your aesthetic goals.
How Can Veneers Improve My Smile?
If you feel self-conscious about the appearance of your smile, you may benefit from porcelain veneers. These ultra-thin, wafer-like shells can address:
- Chipped or cracked teeth
- Deep stains and discoloration
- Worn-down teeth
- Uneven spaces and gaps
- General asymmetry
- Uneven or disproportionate teeth
If you have more extensive damage, you may need a crown, implant, or denture to restore your smile. In addition, severe orthodontic issues or bite-related concerns are better suited to braces. Keep in mind that if you have any underlying oral health problems, these will need to be addressed prior to any elective cosmetic treatment.
When designing your veneers, we pay special attention to ensure that the shape and color matches your surrounding teeth.
The Treatment Process
During your initial appointment, we will review your goals and the structure of your smile to determine whether veneers are right for you. If you decide to proceed with treatment, we can take impressions of your teeth, which will be used to fabricate your custom veneers. These impressions will then be sent to a local laboratory, where technicians will create each veneer out of medical-grade porcelain. This material mimics the sheen and translucency of natural enamel for lifelike results. When designing your veneers, we pay special attention to ensure that the shape and color matches your surrounding teeth.
The Placement of Veneers
At our practice, we offer both traditional veneers and Lumineers®. If you choose traditional veneers, we will first prepare your tooth by removing a small layer of the enamel. We will then apply a bonding agent and secure the veneer in place.
Lumineers, on the other hand, require minimal to no enamel removal prior to placement, since they are thinner than their traditional counterparts. We may simply use an etching solution to increase adhesion before applying the Lumineer to the tooth. After placing your veneers, we can polish your teeth to reveal your newly enhanced smile.
